Manufacturing is a significant and diverse sector in New Zealand, making a major contribution to value added, employment, earnings, R&D and exports.
The manufacturing sector is facing environmental pressures, especially when it comes to climate change, and need to identify ways of reducing and reusing waste. Manufacturers are well aware of competition for staff and changes to skills demands, this has become more of an issues after last few years with restrictions on potential employees being brought in from overseas.
Manufacturers will need to adapt and transform by investing in people, developing environmental roadmaps, supporting innovation and worked collaboratively across the value and supply chain.
